Martyr
A short film by VIOLET DEMPSEY
"MARTYR" IS A SHORT EXPERIMENTAL STUDENT FILM THAT EXPLORES GRUESOME THEMES OF RELIGIOUS SUPPRESSION, TRAUMA, AND LGBTQ EXPERIENCES. IT FOLLOWS A CHARACTER WHO IS OVERWHELMED WITH THE GUILT THAT CHRISTIANITY HAS BROUGHT UPON HER FOR BEING GAY, AND HER BATTLES WITH SHAME AND QUESTIONING. THE MOVIE WAS FULLY CREATED BY ONE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN THEIR BEDROOM. THERE WAS NO CAST OR CREW, JUST ONE INDIVIDUAL WITH A STRONG VISION.
